Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can be defined as a reaction, emotionally, to a disturbing or shocking experience. Causes of PTSD can range from one major life-threatening occurrence to a series of events in one’s life.

Symptoms of PTSD include:

- Insomnia and nightmares, among other sleep problems.

- Flashbacks and replays of traumatic incidents

- Forgetfulness, overall impaired memory.

- Difficulty to concentrate

- Difficulty to learn

- Hypervigilance (somewhat like paranoia)

- Anger, Violent outbursts

- Panic attacks

- Hypersensitivity

- Anxiety

- Survivor guilt

- Feeling you have been given a second chance at life

- Reactive depression

- Fear

- Low self esteem and self confidence
